Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. remains a central figure in our nation’s ongoing dialogue on race and equality. Decades after the Civil Rights Movement, we still struggle to discuss and respond to racism, homophobia, economic injustice and other forms of oppression. EmpowerMT proudly co-sponsors the Missoula MLK Jr. Day Community Celebration by engaging community members in dialogue and calling people to action to help create a more just and inclusive society. Each January, this celebration seeks to help commemorate the message of Dr. King and the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement by examining civil rights issues both locally and nationally and ways to continue advancing justice forward.
